Skull and Bone Bracelet

The skull and bone bracelet is meant to make a statement. This bracelet was hand carved and cast with inspiration both from Victorian jewelry and the catacombs of Paris. It can serve as a piece of modern day memento mori. Each hand sculpted and fabricated bracelet is cast in sterling silver, strung with bone beads and finished by hand, including a patina to darken the recesses. It is strung on many elastic strands, so there is both ease of use as well as the security that if one strand breaks, they don't all fail. Memento mori (translated simply as "remember death") as well as mourning jewelry were most popular in the 17th through 19th centuries to remind us of the natural progression of life. It was meant to keep the idea of death as something not to fear; a reminder to live life to the fullest in order to stay happy until the very end, and sometimes a commemoration of a life that has already passed.
