Lantern Pendant
Lantern Pendant
This is the quintessential spooky lantern. You know what I'm talking about... You can easily imagine it held by hand on a journey into the woods, hanging outside of a witch’s hut, or on each corner of a horse drawn carriage! It can serve as your own little piece of memento mori since a flame constantly burns down the wick of a lit candle. Each pendant is hand carved, including a tiny stump of a candle, and then cast in solid sterling silver. Then finished by hand, including a patina to darken the recesses.
Memento mori (translated simply as "remember death") as well as mourning jewelry were most popular in the 17th through 19th centuries to remind us of the natural progression of life. It was meant to keep the idea of death as something not to fear; a reminder to live life to the fullest in order to stay happy until the very end, and sometimes a commemoration of a life that has already passed.
Your order will contain one sterling silver pendant as seen in the photos. Due to the bespoke nature of the process, slight variations will naturally occur. Please allow up to four weeks for completion as each piece is made to order and will be uniquely yours. Please note, a chain is not included.

Buff with a polishing cloth from time to time as needed or preferred. Sterling silver will naturally develop more patina and character over time depending on factors such as skin contact, burnishing, and natural wear. It is a very easy material to take care of!
