A simple coffin chosen in life, not in death. This memento mori ring encourages us to value the days we have left and to live them fully. In the middle of the coffin lays a beautiful GAGG stone. GAGG stands for Gadolinium Aluminum Gallium Garnet and is a type of lab grown lumogarnet with high fluorescence. It is "used as a scintillator to help detect invisible radiation".
Memento mori (translated simply as "remember death") as well as mourning jewelry were most popular in the 17th through 19th centuries to remind us of the natural progression of life. It was meant to keep the idea of death as something not to fear; a reminder to live life to the fullest in order to stay happy until the very end, and sometimes a commemoration of a life that has already passed.
Your order will contain the exact ring as seen in the photos. Please allow up to one week for shipping. This piece is one of a kind and will be uniquely yours.
Materials
Materials
Most of our products are solid sterling silver or 14k yellow gold. Product descriptions will state the materials used for the individual product listed. We can also accomodate many other material requests such as 10k or 18k gold as special orders. Please reach out with any questions.
Care Instructions
Care Instructions
We suggest removing our jewelry for anything other than normal wear. During any strenuous activities such as swimming or other sports, wearing the jewelry will be at your own risk. Various factors such as sweat, chemicals, and dirt can effect your pieces.
For most of our sterling silver products, we add a patina and then finish the high spots to leave the recesses darkened. Sterling will naturally develop more patina and character over time depending on factors such as skin contact, burnishing, and natural wear. We suggest not to use any abrasives or solutions besides warm soapy water.
For any solid gold products, you can clean the jewelry from time to time in warm, soapy water. Gold will not develop a patina the same way silver will.
For any questions on finishes or care, feel free to reach out. We can also refinish your pieces in our studio if you desire.
